To
become an award winning anything at
age one, you’d have to be amazing. Because there’s just no way a normal 1 year
old, in this case, website can perform so remarkably given so little time to
improve. Lazada Philippines knows all too well how to go against the current
and beat the odds after being named as the Best Online Shopping Mall for 2013
by the Golden Globe Annual Awards just going to its second year.
Clearly,
it’s ahead of its game and Rocket Internet was brilliant in choosing its top
management. Because no matter how new to the Philippines the internationally
owned e-commerce site is, it blew its competitions to dust.
Under
the circumstances of it being owned by and international venture builder,
Rocket Internet, it showed no sign of vulnerability to its market at hand. In
its first year, it sold millions in profit and now it has expanded its
collection to more than 20,000 products from different brands. It has better
payment options that adhere to what its customers need and it has made it very
evident in its services how it aims to please.
As
part of a growing industry alongside being honored as the best in its first
year, the online shopping mall had to step up its game. Last year, E-commerce
transactions reportedly earned P8 billion. And now, more is expected from the
numerous number of e-commerce websites currently still in business. Coming from
a very competitive background, Lazada isn’t scared to push itself that has made
it very noticeable to the eyes of may investors.
Lazada
in general is a brand not only available in the Philippines. It also currently
exists in four other Southeast Asian countries including Malaysia, Indonesia,
Vietnam and Thailand all of which are individually successful as well. Each
venture was made to become the perfect fit for its respective market.
Obviously, an amateur or first-time online shopper would be quick to assume
that local online entrepreneurs own Lazada. Its selection of products as well
as choice of currency makes it look that way. But that is what ultimately sets
it apart. It has distinct strategy not to mention, very affordable goods that
make it such a crowd favorite.
It
is most definitely a strong contender when it comes to high quality products
and services. It excites me to see what it can possibly have more in store for
us. Because it definitely has made it clear as crystal that it isn’t going
away.
As
an online venture in the Philippines, it can either work as advantage or
disadvantage. Since it’s not a very traditional form of purchasing or activity
in general, it can scare off a lot of potential customers. But Lazada has
become so established in just a year that it was able to cover all the basics
it direly need to reassure its market of just how safe and beneficial its
offers can be. Hey, if all else fails, it has PCI DSS’ seal of approval to
prove just how secure it can get.
