Local e-commerce took a 360-dgree turn when Lazada came in

Somehow if you have been consistently watching the news on a daily regular basis, you probably have heard at one point about e-commerce and how it is continuously impacting the way we carry out our businesses and transactions. It is perhaps the future of business and there are no signs of it slowing down. E-commerce has grown so big, so large, and so gargantuan that even traditional big businesses have gotten in on the internet game and started putting up their own websites. In fact, everyone is on the internet right now, every business who wants to take advantage of the best things that technology can offer that even your neighborhood sari-sari store might have an online store or online counterpart or online presence so to speak. There are a lot of innovators and rabble rousers (in a good way of course) in the world of e-commerce and the entire internet industry. When the conversation shifts to international online shopping and e-commerce companies the household names like Alibaba.com, Amazon.com, Flipkart, Target, Newegg, Shop.com, Overstock, Wal-Mart and eBay are names that are always being dropped. While on the local front, in our e-commerce industry, you will have names like sulit.com, eBay.Ph , Zalora, ayosdito.ph and the Philippines’ online shopping mall LazadaPH.

Lazada Philippines is an online shopping company launched by the largest and fastest international online business incubator called Rocket-Internet. Lazada is not Rocket-Internet by itself. These are two different companies that are a little bit separate from each other. Rocket-Internet’s business scheme is to hunt for great internet business ideas, replicate that idea and then launch it on a new market mostly in emerging and developing countries like the Philippines. A lot of the business ideas that they have replicated are comes mostly from the United States which is the usual starting point of every successful internet business there is on the planet.  Lazada Philippines is the company’s version of Amazon.com if you have noticed the similarity.

The company introduced a lot of new and exciting innovations to the Philippine online shopping industry in a way that makes it more fun and accessible to the average Filipino online shopping consumer. The new things and services that they introduced are something new and have never been done before in the local online shopping arena by prior online shopping companies. The new services that they are offering like the cash on delivery payment method caused the online shopping situation in the local market to take a 360-degree turn making it a much better and more dynamic industry than what it was several years back. The wonderful things that they did for the industry caused a massive shift in consciousness towards online shopping and made it a household name and commonplace activity in the local shopping market. Everything nowadays is much better compared to how it was because the company was able to capture a larger chunk of the market. This will continue on for years to come definitely and we hope to see more innovations coming from the company.
